Homeschooling Information & Considerations

One question that will come up for you when gathering your homeschooling information and pondering all homeschooling considerations is what is the best single method of homeschooling? The answer is simple, although not too precise. There is no single best method.

Your best successes will come with the experience you gain as you go. With experience comes confidence, and the willingness to experiment and the flexibility to adjust. This will then become the single best homeschooling method for you. The key is what works for you. I've mentioned on more that one occasion that homeschooling methodology is as unique as the families that are engaged in them. And this is one of the biggest benefits of homeschooling your child.

Many parents prefer the structure of a purchased curriculum for the first year or two. Many parents stay with this type of structure throughout. Often times, experience dictates that you begin to tailor your own homeschool program that fits your child and family's philosophical beliefs and schedule. Many families use a combination of books, purchased curricula, and a variety of resources.

More Resources

Homeschooling parents can teach all subjects to their children, or when needed, use a tutor or a particular subject matter expert to get them through the occasional subject matter. You may find this approach to your child's homeschool education is more appropriate as they get older and enter the high school years.

Your entire approach to teaching your child may very well change over time (in fact, I would say you can plan on this) as your kids grow and mature and begin to develop more specific interests in what they want out of their education.

The greatest resources you have when it comes to homeschooling are other homeschoolers. I can't stress this enough. Engage yourself in your profession. Talk to other homeschoolers. Gain and learn from their experiences. Chances are you won't have to re-invent the wheel when it comes to any teaching or homeschooling challenge you may face. Homeschooling information and all considerations thereof are plentiful. There are many perspectives, ideas, and successes to draw from. I'm confident that you'll find yours too.
