Of all of the (many) benefits of homeschooling that I
most enjoy is the ability that I have to not only mold
my child's education, but to shape and mold their very
moral development as well.
Setting aside the tangible book
learning for a moment, the greatest impact that a parent
can have on their child is teaching values,
responsibility and character education as a part of
their daily homeschooling routine.
Good solid moral values are serious subject matter for
us parents, and one of the reasons we choose to
homeschool. Many times is the fact that we don't like,
or at best disagree, with what was being transmitted in
the public school system.
Teaching values to children is
the task of the parent. And today that task is becoming
even more important as our children are subjected to a
lack thereof in just about every segment of our society.
Building a strong moral and value base and directing
your child's character education is a stronghold for
your child for their entire life, and the importance of
this should not be under prioritized.
As a homeschooling parent, you have the advantage of
spending each and every day around your children. This
is a great advantage to you when is comes to building
and teaching good character to your children. It is
because of this that homeschooled children in general
are found to be much more grounded in their values and
their ability to accept and carry out various
responsibilities is exceptional.
Incorporate teaching values, responsibility, and
character education a part of your every day interaction
with your child. Discuss the daily societal issues with
your child. As their parent, no one can do or be a
better influence than you and homeschooling affords you
this opportunity every day.
In today's society, this is an advantage that you as a
homeschooling parent have made a decision to take
advantage of. With the current state of the society
almost demanding that both parents work full time, you
as a homeschooler can work with your child to carve out
a successful lifelong path for your child. Making
certain that their moral development and character is strong and
that values instilled are those that you as the parent hold in
the highest regard.
