How I Started This Website |
|
|
The very thought of homeschooling sounds quite daunting. After all it's
only your child's entire future at stake right?
Need some
home school ideas? So many questions being
generated every minute by your brain. Can't sleep at night have to get
up and make a note of that thought or idea. Curricula, books, materials,
recordkeeping, grades, lesson plans, scheduling, can I really do this?
And on and on!
Yikes! Homeschooling isn't really that hard is it?
Relax.
Here's some homeschooling advice.... It isn't. Your motivation
and the love for your child will find you a way. And all the homeschool
scheduling woes will soon abate. Really, after you get past the initial
panic and the information overload of all the homeschooling ideas and
tips that you will soon come across, you will find that homeschooling is
really quite fun..... and educational even for you! Enjoy the flexibility
of the schedule and most of all enjoy the time you get to spend with
your children.
Still not convinced? OK. Think about it this way. In the typical
traditional school environment, one teacher spends 6 or 7 hours a day
teaching 20 or more students. This is the equivalent of one on one
tutoring of about 1 to 2 hours a day.
When I first started
homeschooling, I too also mentally benchmarked about where we should be
based on a traditional school schedule. I was amazed at how far ahead we
got. Well not only how much further along we got schedule wise, but how
much more time I could spend with my children ensuring a complete
understanding of the lesson before even moving forward.
I don't want to come across as homeschooling your child is a cake walk.
Anything as serious as you child's future certainly is not that.
However, after some experimenting with your
homeschool ideas
and working
with your family schedule you will settle in, gain confidence, and that
is when the real enjoyment of homeschooling your kids begins.
